AMON AMARTH Drummer Interviewed On 'Rög's Talkin' DrumZ: The Video Show'

December 24, 2010

Drummer Fredrik Andersson of Metal Blade recording artists AMON AMARTH and THIS ENDING was interviewed for the first episode of "Rög's Talkin' DrumZ: The Video Show", a program all about drumming and the featured artist. It features in-depth questions focusing on drumming, a history piece on Fredrik and music videos from AMON AMARTH and THIS ENDING, and even a chat with his drum tech Holger Hahan. You can watch the entire 55-minute episode below.

The first successful spin-off from the "Metalkast" podcast/radio show, "Rög's Talkin' DrumZ" features Lawrence Paterson (drummer for BLAZE BAYLEY, CHOKEHOLD, SINOCENCE) as Rög's co-host. Artists that have appeared on the program include Bobby Rondinelli, James Kottak, Mark Zonder, Gene Hoglan, Carl Canedy, Vinny Appice and Randy Black. AMON AMARTH has set "Surtur Rising" as the title of its eighth studio album, due on March 29, 2011 via Metal Blade Records. Frontman Johan Hegg told Terrorizer magazine, "Obviously, the songs are going to be AMON AMARTH — that's what we've always done — but we wanted to put a little more edge to our sound, so hopefully that's going to come out after the mixing and everything. We've laid down ten tracks, and as is usual for us, every one of them is going to end up on the album."

The drums for "Surtur Rising" were recorded at Park Studios in Stockholm while the rest of the instruments were laid down at Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden.

Surtur is a jötunn, a giant in Norse mythology; according to Wikipedia, "Surtur is foretold as being a major figure during the events of Ragnarök; carrying his bright sword, he will go to battle against the Æsir, he will do battle with the major god Freyr, and afterward the flames that he brings forth will engulf the Earth."
